Why does Equilux use saliva and blood spot testing instead of traditional blood draws?
Traditional blood draws at labs often measure total hormone levels bound to proteins, which don’t reflect what’s actively available to your cells.
Saliva and blood spot testing measure your **bioavailable (active)** hormone levels, providing a more accurate picture of what’s actually affecting your mood, metabolism, sleep, and energy.
These methods allow:
• Collection at the right time of day (when hormones fluctuate)
• Testing multiple times for more precision
• No need for a lab visit—samples are taken at home
• Better assessment of hormone rhythm and function
This modern, patient-friendly approach allows us to treat based on real, functional hormone data—not just lab reference ranges.
Why does Equilux include DNA testing as part of the evaluation?
Your DNA holds the blueprint for how your body processes hormones. At Equilux, we analyze specific gene variants—like those affecting estrogen receptors (ESR1), detox pathways (COMT, CYP1B1), and hormone metabolism (SHBG, UGTs) —
to personalize your care.
This helps us answer key questions:
• Are you genetically prone to estrogen or progesterone sensitivity?
• Do you metabolize hormones too quickly—or too slowly?
• Are you at risk for higher inflammation or poor detoxification?
By looking at your genetics, we go beyond the numbers and design a treatment plan truly tailored to your biology.
DNA testing at Equilux gives you deeper insight, more targeted treatment, and better long-term outcomes.
What makes Equilux different from other online telehealth platforms?
Equilux is not just another telehealth service—it’s a precision hormone and longevity
platform built for women by experts in hormone science.
Here’s why clients choose Equilux:
• We specialize 100% in female hormone health—this is not an add-on.
• Our providers are trained in advanced hormone and longevity medicine.
• We combine hormone testing, DNA analysis, and personalized protocols.
• We use saliva, blood spot, and genetic testing for deeper accuracy.
• We offer multiple treatment formats: troches, topicals, pellets.
• Our care includes peptides, supplements, and lifestyle optimization.
• We don’t treat lab numbers—we treat you and how you feel.
What truly sets Equilux apart is our commitment to results and innovation:
• We have real-world clinical data demonstrating measurable improvements in symptoms,
energy, body composition, and mental clarity.
• Our clients report high satisfaction, with strong retention and adherence to care plans.
• Objective health markers—like hormone balance, sleep quality, lean mass, and
inflammatory markers—consistently improve under our protocols.
• We’re proud to be launching an exclusive longevity testing initiative in partnership with a
leading European lab.
• This test will assess telomere length—an emerging biomarker of biological aging.
• Using this data, we’re developing hormone, peptide, and supplement protocols designed
to help extend health span by preserving or increasing telomere length.
Are there scientific studies supporting Equilux’s methods?
Yes. Equilux is grounded in clinical research and scientific best practices. Our protocols are supported by peer-reviewed studies and real-world data.
Here are just a few areas where science supports our approach:
• **Saliva hormone testing** is a validated, non-invasive way to measure bioavailable (free) hormone levels. Studies show its accuracy for cortisol, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and DHEA.

• **Dried blood spot testing (DBS)** closely matches serum levels and is particularly
accurate in tracking hormones delivered via creams, gels, and troches.

- ZRT Laboratory. The Science of Dried Blood Spot Testing.

• **Telomere length measurement** is a novel but increasingly reliable biomarker of
biological aging. Consistency in testing (saliva, DBS, venous blood) is key to accuracy.
- Dagnall CL, et al. (2017). Effect of preanalytic variables on telomere length
measurement. PLoS One. https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0255237
Equilux is also partnering with a top European longevity lab to integrate exclusive telomere
testing, using hormone and peptide protocols to help optimize cellular aging
and health span.
I’ve heard hormone replacement therapy for women is dangerous and causes cancer—is that true?
This is one of the most common concerns—and one of the most misunderstood.
The fear around HRT began after the 2002 Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) study linked hormone therapy to breast cancer. But that study used synthetic hormones (Prempro) in older women, and the findings have since been clarified and challenged.
Recent research shows:
• **Bioidentical hormones**, like those used by Equilux, behave differently than synthetic versions.
• Starting HRT within 10 years of menopause (the window of opportunity) is associated
with **reduced risks** of heart disease, osteoporosis, and cognitive decline.
• Most studies show **no increase—or even a decrease—in breast cancer risk** when hormones are used appropriately and monitored.

Therapy remains the most effective treatment for menopausal symptoms.

in all-cause mortality or cancer.

At Equilux, we use **personalized, low-dose, bioidentical hormone therapy**, guided by
your test results and genetics—to deliver benefits while minimizing risks.
